The Powerplant
"David, come in here," commanded Arty Showes, the owner of the Kanto National Power plant. David Mikael, waiting outside of his office, trotted in, wearing a construction hat, overalls, and carpenter jeans over his tanned skin and slightly muscled build. David knew what this was about, he was the engineer at the Kanto Power plant, he made sure that everything worked, that nothing was ever wrong, that Kanto had power. His Elekid, who usually helped him with his work, had been hit in the head from his hammer, dropped while he was fixing one of the generators, and suffered amnesia. The bump on its head outraged it, and now it was destroying generators, and making it harder to supply the region of Kanto with power.
"David," sighed Arty, trying to sound sympathetic, but failing terribly, "Your Elekid is ruining my business, and I want it to stop. You're going to have to capture it, or else I'll find a new carpenter. They're a dime a dozen, and at this point, you're not worth my penny, to tell the truth, you're not even worth a penny! I'm gonna give you one day, you're gonna take my Magmar, and two Pokeballs, and you're hafta gonna catch that Elekid, or you know what's gonna happen." Mr. Showes tossed a two red and white orbs that were known as Pokeballs at David, him catching both. "Now scat, I have important business to attend to," Showes demanded, getting ready to leave for his reservation for two at the prestigious Red Corphish.
"Huuuuh," breathed David," I really wish that he wasn't so mean to me all the time, I mean, it's not like I want this to be going on, but I guess I'll just have to find Elekid. Sometimes, I just don't know if I should quit this job or not," He tossed the Pokeball containing Magmar into the air, a stream of red electricity emerging from the brightly colored orb. Emerging from the red light was a Fire-type Pokemon. IT had a long tail, which had a blazing orange fire at the end of it. Its feet were red, with two ivory claws emerging from them. It had arms with ruffs, ending with a five clawed paw, perfect for hacking and slashing. The Magmar's head was shaped like an odd hairstyle, two large points emerging from the head. Its pupils were deep black and had an orange snout which purple fire leaked out of. "Oh great, this thing is gonna burn down the whole freakin' power plant," commented David, only achieving a hateful stare from the Magmar. "Well, c'mon, I guess, we have to find my Pokemon or I lose my job."
First, David and Magmar searched behind all the generators, only finding a couple of aggressive purple rodents called Rattata, which Magmar had to torch with a sparking Fire Punch, leaving behind only a couple of Rattata crispies. On the last generator, they found a highly aggressive fat brown hair covered rat known only as a Raticate which was highly territorial and viewed the two beings as a threat to its environment. David, who used to be a Pokemon Trainer before getting all of his Pokemon stolen. He was in a Gym Battle at the Saffron City Gym, his Elekid fighting against an Alakazam. A couple Team Rocket thugs used sedative darts to knock out both him and the Gym Leader and stole both of their Pokemon. The Elekid and Alakazam had the sense to flee while the jerks were collecting the Pokemon, but nevertheless, he never had the nerve to continue his journey after the incident. He decided then and there that this was as good a time as ever to start over.
"Okay, Magmar, use Fire Punch!" exclaimed David. Blazing red fire encased Magmar's hand, embers jumping in all direction, a battle cry of Maaaaag! emanating from its mouth. Magmar attacked the rat with the fist of fiery death, knocking it backwards, hairs on its body burning off with a light hissing sound. The rat did a backwards somersault and charged Magmar, hanging on with a rather nasty Crunch, teeth digging deep into Magmar's flesh, drawing blood, red liquid leaking from the bite wounds on Magmars left forearm. "Okay, Magmar, this is perfect, finish it with a Flamethrower," yelled David, thinking on his feet. Magmar felt the blazing fire in his stomach, going up his esophagus, burning his insides, going through his mouth, and torching the Raticate in a blaze of purple fire, leaving it enraged on the ground, without a hair on its body, burns covering it.
The Raticate was stronger than David had thought, and was obviously skilled in fighting with other Pokemon for territory. It used Crunch a few times before using Hyper Fang again, ripping red flesh off of Magmar's arm, red blood spouting from the wound like a fountain. Magmar was now angered. It decided that the Raticate would have to die. It let out a stream of white fire, burning like one thousand suns, leaving the Raticate's flesh hanging off it's skeleton, bones charred black. But Magmar wouldn't finish there. Sparks of red hot fire flew off of Magmar's fists like snowflakes from a cloud, pulverizing the spot where the skeleton was. It left a small pile of chipped bones and blood where there used to be a dead Raticate, leaving with a satisfied look on its face, David swearing he could hear its thoughts, a ringing chorus of burn in hell.
David chuckled, "I'll have to clean that up later," while Magmar felt pride, his intestines recovering from the blaze, his bite wound starting to scab over. Magmar had been born from a Magmortar wrong. The fire he shot was extremely hot, too hot even for him. When he had to use a Flamethrower, or, God forbid, a Fire Blast, it burned his organs. Thankfully, the Cinnabar doctors were able to inject his bloodstream with a healing elixir, which strengthened and healed his organs to heat, but it could never remove the pain, it was like a form of ADHD, you're born with it, but you can outgrow it, and like many terrible diseases, sometimes people never find out. This was the case. Magmar was sold to Arty Showes as a Magby by the breeding company without being told of his special case, which led him to believe that Magmar was weaker than other fire Pokemon.. The Pokemon doctors had said he would be able to shoot fire safely only when he reached his peak evolutionary stage; Magmortar, but since Showes wasn't exactly a Pokemon Trainer and had gotten Magmar for protection, hiring another Trainer to raise it to a Magmar, that was unlikely to happen.
After the minor distraction that the Raticate was, David checked all the hallways, rooms, and the lavatory without prevail. After the searching of the rest of the building, and a few more torched rats and a couple melted Magnamite, there was only one place left to check; the old nest of Zapdos. Before Artemis Showes came to Kanto from the Hoenn region and fixed the power plant from near disrepair, the legendary bird of legend known as Zapdos had made its nest in the halls. David had only gone to the nest once before, and it was terrible. Attracted by the remnants of Zapdos' electricity long gone by, a Magnazone had decided to live there. It viciously attacked anyone who stepped into his lair, and it was never beaten in battle; not that anybody tried.
But David had to try even though he knew he might get killed, he had to save his job or his two children; Andromeda and Venus, and his wife, Aphrodite, would starve. And so, he trudged down the empty halls of the Kanto National Power plant, or the KNP, and entered the lair of Magnazone, thinking Thank God I have life insurance.
*******
Inside the rather bland iron walled room where the Magnazone lived, there was no life, except for a cowering baby purple Rattata that had accidentally made its way in, and, of course, the Magnazone. The little Rattata crawled up to me and perched itself on David's foot, barely and inch wide and four inches long, it was immensely cute, David couldn't let Magmar torch it, so he picked the little guy up, and let it rest on his shoulder. The other sign of life, the Magnazone, was sleeping, or in more specific terms, its rest period, as magnets didn't sleep. David made a quick once-around the room and didn't see anything, and opened the door, waking the Magnazone from the rest. The magnet Pokemon had to small eye units on it 'shoulders', both ending with a large horseshoe magnet on the lower body. The middle was occupied by a large, oval shaped piece of iron, a large, red pupiled eye unit resting in the middle. It had a darker piece of metal on its top, ending in a bright yellow antenna that David thought that was used to store electricity in. Rattata and Magmar both assumed a fighting stance, Magmar in it for the glory of the kill, Rattata in it for the affection of the nice man. The small rat charged Magnezone with a bite ready, only to be shot backwards by a spark of electricity.
"Rattata," exclaimed David, worried about the small animals well being. "Magmar, fight the Magnazone, I need to help Rattata!" David pulled a Potion from his Trainer Kit, one of the remnants from his adventures as a Trainer. He sprayed the Potion onto the burn mark from where the spark hit Rattata, releasing a bright blue liquid onto the wound, which immediatly began to froth, healing the mark. Meanwhile, Magmar was having trouble fending off the powerful foe. Everytime it tried to hit the Magnazone with a physical attack, it would get knocked back by sparks, but its stomach was still burned beyond recognition from the rat barbeque going on during the search. Magmar mustered the very last of it's strength, and sent a Fire Blast towards Magnazone, collapsing from the pain. White hot fire barreled at the Magnezone, sparking, killing, vicious as its releaser, ready to kill.
And kill it did. The Fire Blast collided with the Magnezone, melting the Pokemon. The Magnet Pokemon was reduced to a puddle of molten iron in mere seconds, a dull grey antenna floating in the final resting place of the Pokemon.
The Rattata, squealed at the sudden disappearance of the mean gray thingy, and caused David to jolt his head backwards. There, he saw Magmar, collapsed on the ground. David ran towards the fallen Pokemon, and pulled out his Trainer Kit, and looked over the array of tools packed in the small box. There were severa revolutionary things, most of which wouldn't be useful in this situation. He pulled out a Rare Candy, which would, if the theory's were correct, energize the Magmar. Then he pulled out a Hi Potion, which would heal, and finally, he reached into the kit and pulled out a Magmarizer. It was a red, house shaped item which would evolve Magmar into Magmortar, finally freeing it from the curse of Pain Fire, or so it would be prescribed from that point onwards. He opened Magmar's mouth, and plopped the small candy onto its tongue. Magmar's eyelids flickered, and finally opened, relieving David. Next, he sprayed down Magmar with Potion, emptying the last of it into its mouth, healing its insides. Lastly, he took the Magmarizer and handed it to Magmar.
Magmar began to glow bright white, slowly changing from a Magmar to a Magmortar. At the end of the transformation, there was a completely different Pokemon. At the end, there was a much fatter Pokemon. It had the same color scheme as Magmar, but that was where the similarities ended. Its tail had evolved to be purely fire, a much more versatile tool, and turned it's left hand into a barrel for the fire. Magmar understood then why there would be no more Pain Fire, there was no need for the fire to go through the organs, instead, it formed in the barrel. f course, the other hand was relatively unchanged, simply being cylindracal now. The shoulders on its plump body raised with fire shaped shoulder blades. Its head had the same design, being now in the shape of a fire instead of a two pronged spear.
Elekid, watching this from the cieling tiles of the powerplant, broke through the tile with a loud crack!, scattering dust and composite wood everywhere, landing on the unappealing green tile floor with a bang. It obviously wanted to battle the Magmortar. The Rattata, knowing the strange rituals of the Pokemon Trainer, joined the Elekid in battle, knowing that if he lost this battle, he could join the nice man on a long journey.
The Magmortar let out a battle cry, charging the Elekid with a Fire Punch, un-announced by David. "Stop," David exclaimed "Don't kill the Rattata, now use Fire Punch on Elekid, then use a Fire Spin!" Magmortar continued its forward assault, striking the Elekid with a flaming fist purple sparks flying, and getting bit by Rattata. Then, Magmortar used Fire Spin, shooting the small rodent into a wall with a flurry of small, blue flames, not breaking any of its bones and only increasing its spirit. It charged the Magmortar, using a Hyper Fang, inflicting damage on Magmortar, blood once again leaking from its wound. Elekid took the opportunity to use a Low kick, kicking the Magmortar in the side sending it flying, landing in a heap ten feet away. Magmortar charged, not using any moves, just ramming the Elekid, knocking Rattata out of its way. Elekid used Thunder Punch, electrifying Magmortar, sparks encasing his body. Magmortar, now extremely enraged, used Lava Plume, which missed, burning a hole in the wall. "Stop, Magmortar," exclaimed David.
"We need to take this easy, we can't just destroy them, we need strategy, now, go and use Thunder Punch, which won't work, it will make him feel secure, and then blast him with Flamethrower!" So Magmortar followed his orders, and yellow electricity crackled at his finger tips, ready to use the strategy given to him. Magmortar charged Elekid, smashing him with an ineffective move, and, for the first time, used Flamethrower, which didn't hurt his organs. The blue fire formed at a special organ located in his barrel, which was specially evolved for extreme temperature, and fired the dancing flames at the opponent standing a dozen feet away. Fire caged Elekid in, trapping him, burning him, until it released him, leaving black marks of soot on his body and red burns on his front. In Magmortar's satisfaction, Rattata jumped onto him and used Hyper Fang on his ear, scarring him for life. Magmortar shook his head, which propelled Rattata off, and sent a tiny wisp of fire orange fire after him. Rattata was burned, not badly, but burned nevertheless. Elekid, electricity rapidly conversing through its two antennae, shot a Thunderbolt at Magmortar, which, in a word, hurt. The bolt of white lightning illuminated Magmortar, leaving it enraged as it had never been before, though it had to keep a check on itself, as its master wanted these enemies. He sent a powerful, Lava Plume at Elekid, flying through the air, shaking like gelatin, steaming. The Elekid dodged the ball of death, leaving it to burn a hole in the wall, going through it, and making another Rattata crispie. Elekid released a wild Thunder electricity encasing it, flying towards Magmortar in a birdlike fashion. Magmortar retaliated by releasing a Fire Blast, sending purple fire through the air, scalding the ground below it. The powerful lightening bolt zapped Magmortar with 100,000 volts of pure electricity, and in return, Elekid was scorched by fire of 3600 degrees Fahrenheit.
Both Elekid and Magmortar were laying on the ground, both slowly rising up to face the other. Elekid began whirling its arms, blue sparks of static electricity filling the room, encasing its body, shooting rapidly from antenna to antenna. Elekid shot a Thunder at Magmortar, who swerved and dodged it. After that, Elekid, electricity crackling at his fingertips, began to pulverize the powerful abdoman of Magmortar. Mogmortar punched the Elekid with his barrel and shot a Flamethrower, illuminating the room with a blaze of orange fire. Magmortar couldn't keep this up much longer, and all parties knew it.
"Okay Magmortar, let's finish both of them. First, send an Ember, and an average Ember, maybe even a little weaker than average, at the Rattata, and then use Hyper Beam on Elekid!" strategize David. Magmortar released a small amount of bright red fire from his mouth, leaving Rattata whimpering, certainly not wanting to fight anymore. Next, the Magmortar charged a Hyper Beam, pure, grey energy surging into his barrel. Elekid, knowing what was going on, used a bright yellow Thunderbolt, which only helped to feed the Hyper Beam. Due to Magmortar's instincts, it immediately released a Flamethrower at the same time as the thunder powered Hyper Beam. Elekid was hit with both of these attacks at once, getting knocked out, scorched, and obviously beaten. David threw two Pokeballs, one at Rattata, one at Elekid, both of them getting sucked up by red vapor. As if they were in unison, the balls shook together, once, twice, three times, together both Pokemon were...
